The First Annual Local Playwrights’ Festival at CSP

The First Annual Local Playwrights’ Festival at CSP will featuring new playwrights from our local communities.

All proceeds will directly benefit the Chestnut Street Playhouse to help us recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. Our goal is to reopen our beloved theater for a full season of productions and events for 2022. We need your help and ask for your support!

  • Only 5 plays will be chosen to be presented at the festival.

  • Submissions will be limited to the first 50 received.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Submissions will only be accepted from New London County, CT and Washington County, RI residents.

  • All scripts must be submitted and received by July 14, 2021 at midnight.

  • How should scripts be received?   There are two ways to submit your scripts. Hard copies should be submitted to Eugene J. Celico, 5 Cherry Street, Pawcatuck, CT 06379; or scripts can be emailed to Eugene Celico at TTcomehome@yahoo.com  Please attach your script in a WORD or PDF document when emailing. (Please note: Mailed scripts will NOT be returned.)

  • Pages must be numbered.

  • There is no required format but must be submitted in a PLAY form.

  • Only one submission per writer will be accepted.

  • ALL scripts must have the authors name, address and contact information on the cover of the script including email address and cell number.

  • A short personal Bio should be submitted with the script.

  • Only full length plays will be accepted.

  • Only plays that have NOT been produced prior to the festival will be considered.

  • Experienced directors will be provided for each playwright for the five chosen plays. Directors and playwrights will have the opportunity to collaborate.

  • The five plays will be presented as readings with minimal lighting, no elaborate sets or props, and actors sitting/standing on stage.
